What to do after extractions and operations
After extractions or surgical procedures, you should avoid heat exposure such as hot baths, hot meals, going to the sauna etc. Avoid physical exertion. Do not ingest dairy products. Do not drive.
Swellings of the cheeks can be reduced by applying an ice pack. No warmth! If necessary, call us. On the day of the operation, stay clear of caffeine, nicotine and alcohol. Do not eat before the local anesthetic wears off.
What now?

The day after...
On the day after the procedure, rinse your mouth with mouthwash or sage tea to aid healing. Clean your teeth as usual. Minor bleeding can be staunched with a paper napkin. In the event of major bleeding you should come to see us. Please call ahead! If you experience strong, pounding pain, a bad taste in your mouth or halitosis, please call us immediately.
